EGA’s Aluminium Recycling Plant Reaches 50% Completion Ahead of Schedule

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has achieved 50% construction progress on what is set to become the UAE’s largest aluminium-scrap recycling facility, located adjacent to its Al Taweelah smelter in Abu Dhabi. The milestone comes 42 days ahead of schedule, according to Gulf Today.

The plant, designed to handle around 170,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap annually, will process both post-consumer and pre-consumer material into high-quality “RevivAL” billets — EGA’s new premium recycled aluminium product line.

Once operational, the facility is expected to produce its first hot metal in the first half of 2026. The project is a key step in strengthening the UAE’s circular economy, as a large portion of aluminium scrap generated domestically is currently exported. By retaining and reprocessing this scrap locally, EGA aims to enhance value creation within the country and support the transition to low-carbon manufacturing.
